Connecting to a Linux server from your local system using PuTTY provides a secure and efficient means of remote access. PuTTY is an open-source terminal emulator, enables users to establish an SSH connection to a Linux server.
PuTTY provide smoot interaction with Linux servers, offering a reliable and user-friendly interface for seamless remote operations.
By using PuTTY also connect to AWS EC2 Linux instance.
Prerequisites:
Install PuTTY:
Install PuTTY on your local system.
Find IP address:
Obtain the IP address or hostname of the Linux server.
Ensure you have the login credentials (username and password).
Connecting with PuTTY:
Open PuTTY:
Open the PuTTY Configuration window, In the Host Name section enter the Linux server IP address or username.
Set the connection type to SSH and port to 22.
Session Save:
In the Saved Sessions section and click the "Save" button to save these settings for future use. By this there is no need to enter the IP address.
Establish a connection:
To start the connection, click the Open button.
Security alert:
If you are connecting to the server for the first time, PuTTY may prompt you to confirm the server host key. Click on Yes to continue.
When asked, enter your username and password.
Connect to Linux server:
You should now be able to connect to the server. The terminal allows you to navigate the file system and run commands on Linux server through command line interface.
